    Abstract:

Aiming at the problems of poor contrast and poor visual quality in dark area of low illumination image, this paper proposes a new low illumination image enhancement algorithm. This method can effectively avoid the problems of color distortion and over enhancement of bright areas caused by traditional enhancement methods. Firstly , the authors design a linear mapping function to compress the gray area with few pixels, which can improve the overall brightness of the image while keeping the gray distribution characteristics of the image unchanged. Then, the authors use the gray distribution of the image to generate the corresponding enhancement mapping function. Finally, the authors use image fusion technology to further improve the overall color performance of the image. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has better performance in terms of color performance and brightness enhancement, and is better than the most advanced methods in visual quality and quantitative measurement.
